The division works to understand the living cells and their function at molecular level by analyzing sequence
and structural data. Bioinformaticians use software like Proteome discoverer, mZime, HiSAT2, Gene Spring,
Compound discoverer etc to analyze high throughput data that are the result of Next generation sequencing
based genomics, mass spectrometry based proteomics and metabolmics in areas like human brain proteome,
eye proteome, metabolites, sandal wood genome annotation, human genome sequencing, transcriptome and
exome data for clinical applications.
Biostatistics division is actively engaged in teaching and consultancy activities. Statisticians provide consultancy on research design, sample size determination and data analysis using software like SPSS, R, Python, EpiInfo etc., to researchers at all levels.
